Curation

Curator's Notes
The 3 artifacts presented discuss the relationship between failure and education. Failure plays a big role in a students perception of themselves. The negative light that they could see in themselves as student could be more detrimental than a bad grade or missed assignment. Through these artifacts, I want to further the conversation that the meaning of failure in schools needs to be shifted and reformed. By doing this, I believe that school will not be viewed as such a dreadful place but rather a place of creativity and freedom.
Engaging in a Conversation is an essay I wrote in the seminar portion of my first year writing class. In it, I discuss the need for schools to change the meaning of failing in school and encourage students to welcome failure into their education
Humans of Education is a series of 3 interviews I conducted with first year students at Uconn. I asked them a series of questions regarding their education in relation to failures or causes of failures they have faced in their academic careers.
The Remix assignment which was done in the studio section of first year writing takes my Humans of Education project, and transforms/presents it in a new way. Take a trip to the Remix page of this website to check it out.
