About Me

allypadilla .heic

I grew up in a small town called Berthoud in Northern Colorado where the population stayed around 5,000 for the majority of the 18 years I lived there. I graduated with a class of 147. In high school, I was a part of National Honor Society, Latinos Unified in Community Club, Peer Support Counseling and 3 varsity sports for 4 years! Those experiences helped guide into my interests and things that I want to be involved in.

I am now a first year undergraduate at the University of Connecticut. I am majoring in Psychological Sciences and plan to minor in Crime and Justice. In the future I want to be a criminal or forensic psychologist because I have always been fascinated by the true crime world and want to enter that space in one way or another.

My first exposure to the true crime world was when I was about 3 or 4, my grandma was watching Dateline, a show on NBC about criminal cases. We sat and watched the whole thing together and after that, she recorded the episodes every week so we could watch them together. More recently, I have been listening to podcasts and watching true crime youtubers. I always wondered, why do people do these things or how can we provide people with the resources to stop it from happening in the first place. That is where psychology comes in and how I ultimately want to assist in criminal cases and evaluate them to hopefully put a stop to the long cycle of serial violence.
