The remix assignment challengs students to take an already complete and graded project that was done in the seminar section of English 1007, and completely shift the meaning and design to create a new assignment in a different multimedia mode. I decided to use soundscapes and pictures to remix my Humans of Education project. The focus of this project was interviewing first year undergraduate students at the University of Connecticut about their experience with educational failure.
Within these interviews, there was a strong theme of self blame. Students often said that it was themselves who most contributed to them feeling like a failure at something within their education. I wanted to hone into this feeling through sounds and pictures to show what a hard study session can look and sound like when you are not a good mental space and are constantly taking the weight of your academic career solely on tired shoulders.
